Cat Behavior and the Entertainment it Brings(Find the recommended books and cat supplies at the end of this page)What an attitudeCat behavior goes beyond how she will rub against you, or run away from you. You must consider their temperament
when choosing them as pets. Is its first reaction one of fear or does it react warmly when you reach out to it.
Whether you are looking for an indoor cat, an outdoor cat or a combination, the cats attitude plays an
important role in your decision.
When we first decided to get a cat, it was to be our daughter's pet. All of our dogs we rescued from animal shelters, so it only made sense that we rescue a cat. We chose our local Animal Humane Society. They have a great facility that is professionally staffed
of mostly volunteers. The accommodations for the animals are well maintained, and the staff attempts to give
each animal individual attention each day. A separate room is provided so that you can interact with cats
one on one. This allows you to get a sense of their personality, and how they behave.
Cats are Different
They are sleek, allusive, graceful, curious and finicky. They are descendants of the great and powerful lions and tigers. Yes I am speaking of our house cats, Charlie (the black one) and Ziggy (the calico) along with our dogs, they round out our pet family. Their quirky and zany cat behavior keeps us well entertained. Our cats can be purely unpredictable. One moment Charlie will be docile and sweet, the next moment looking for a fight. Ziggy is more independent, yet also can be the more affectionate of the two. She also enjoys the great outdoors, while Charlie senses grave danger beyond the threshold. What is important when you choose a cat?Are you wanting a cat that is active and full of energy, or maybe one that is more laid back, likes his own space and chooses when he will give you attention? The choice is up to you. Just remember, that all cat behavior is going to be different. They are natural hunters, that like to hide and pounce. You must provide plenty of toy's, scratching post, cat trees, and other stimulating objects to keep
them active, and you entertained. An outdoor cat will always find plenty of action in his territory. Remember
an outdoor cat's life span is greatly reduced due to the greater risk of predators and other outdoor threats.
