Always use a pet travel carrier or a harness seat belt in a moving vehicle. If your pet is going to be using a seat belt, use a seat cover or towels to protect the fabric and keep the seat clean.

Air Travel With Your Pet

If you are going to be traveling with your pet by plane, there is some information you need to know. If possible schedule a direct flight and do not assume that if you have a small pet, you can bring it into the cabin area of the plane in a small carrier. Some airlines do allow it but not all. Some airlines do not allow you to bring your pet as excess cargo. Allow yourself plenty of time when arranging a flight so you can ask all the questions concerning your pet traveling on the plane. Tips if your dog travels in the cargo hold :

• Have an airline approved pet carrier
• Airlines require a travel certificate from your vet
• Do not use a lock instead use a zip strap to secure the door of the carrier. This way it can be cut off, and the carrier can be opened in case of emergency
• Place live animal stickers on all sides of the carrier
• Use arrow stickers so handlers know which side is up
• Use a soft pad to line the carrier for comfort and accidents
• Affix a photo of the pet with your phone number and address of your destination to the carrier
• Write your pets name on the front of the carrier
